   I need to be able to hear the teakettle whistle when I’m in my office, adjoining the kitchen. I could barely hear it while I was in the kitchen. If the lid had fit down tightly, it probably would have had a nice whistle. I tried pressing the lid down more, and the whistle got louder, but the lid would not snap securly down.

   September 2014:
   Good kettle, works well, good standard whistle. Sometimes the handle gets hot, as is to be expected. The shape is very pleasing to the eye, but it does mean you have to tip it almost all the way over to get the last of the water out, which puts your hand in the way of the steam — I have had kettles that worked better in this regard, but it’s not really a big deal to me. It holds a lot of water.

   I have now had this kettle for five years, and frankly, I love it. The whistle starts off quiet and gets loud enough to hear from another room without being awfully piercing. The color did get dull – but I finally rubbed it with some baking soda and rinsed with vinegar and it’s good as new! I still love the shape, and the handle really does get less hot than most kettles. And it heats up water very well haha.

   I bought the kettle last year and recently I noticed rust in it. I only realized the rust once I poured a glass of water from it. It was quite literally yellow. This is most definitely a health hazard and would like a refund. This is not safe. Definitely would not encourage anyone to buy it.

   I’ve only had it for a week or so. But so far:

   -whistles like it should,
   -handle doesn’t get hot, and
   -looks great in my kitchen.

   What a perfect little kettle!

   Edit: (10/2015) So I’ve had this kettle for over a year and a half now. I guess I need to revise my rating a bit from 5 to 4 stars. The kettle still looks cute in my kitchen, but now the metallic cover doesn’t make a good seal with the kettle. As a result, when the water boils, the cover tends to leak with a trickle of water about half the time. This isn’t a huge deal (I have a gas stove and it just makes the flame stutter a bit). But you should keep this in mind if you’re debating about getting a more expensive, but higher quality kettle.

    I spent over $50 for this thing less than 8 months ago … the finish is painted, not porcelain and is already melting from the bottom onto my glass cook top, and some crap is flaking off the inside of the kettle. I would expect more from Cuisinart. Steer clear!!

    This kettle has a badly designed mechanism and spout. First of all, the lid is extremely tight fitting so it is hard to remove while the kettle is hot. The trigger on the handle to open the spout is tight and hard to press while pouring. Then, while pouring the water out into a cup, you have to practically turn the kettle upside down to get the water out and while it is pouring, the hot steam goes up onto your hand.
    Like I said, bad design. The spout is not aligned properly for the kettle to function correctly.
    Cuisenart needs to go back to the drawing board on this one!

    So this was purchased as a Christmas gift in December 2018. By March 2019 (just 3 months) the lid and the bottom started to rust. I emailed Cuisinart asking if they would replace it and they said “Please ship it to us at your expense oh and send us a check for $7 to evaluate it.” I thought the pictures I sent would have been enough. Its not the most expensive item in the world, but tea kettles typically last many many years. So we tossed it and decided to write this review instead. The next kettle will be a different brand.

    This tea kettle does not whistle whatsoever! So if you put a pot of tea on and you forget about it, you will never know that it’s steaming unless you walk by it and look. No whistle whatsoever! At least mine doesn’t. Also, it is a very small tea pot and it has a fill line and so you can only get 3 cups of tea out of it. She is CUTE though, but I’m sending her back.

    I love the Cuisineart Tea Pot! I bought the cherry red and it is a beautiful color. The teapot is cute as a bug! I was concerned that some of the negative remarks so I read the use and care guide and realized that those who complained obviously did not read how to boil a pot of water in the Cuisineart teapot! The stationary handle is plenty tall to remove the lid to fill. The directions clearly indicate that you should not boil water on high but rather low to medium. This will prevent your pot from overheating. Also before you pour, set the pot off the burner and allow the boiling to stop. It does recommend that you wipe out your pot after each use. This will ensure the beautiful quality of your pot for years to come. This is a lovely teapot and I highly recommend.
