   I ordered this product and it came without the base unit that heats the water. I returned it and ordered another. The second one also came without the base unit. I may give up on purchasing this item.

   This received good reviews in the NY times, but we found it heavier than necessary while empty and almost unliftable full. The scale that shows how full it is lies under the handle so you can’t see it easily when holding it under the tap. Also found that the open button for the lid was a stretch while you are holding it. Lastly, the temperature select buttons seem to change during the downtime so you are always checking to see if you turned it on and correctly set the temp. We preferred the cuisinartoutlets.com basic model with glass sides and no tea settings.    As tea drinkers we have owned and used numerous electric kettles over the years. Our take on the Cuisinart CP17 after 8 years of ownership:
   Pro: Fast water heating, easy to see level, quieter than many, variable temps
   Con: Started leaking after about 8 years (after looking at reviews not an uncommon problem), more expensive than many

   Love this kettle! It’s easy to handle and you can choose your temperature. Since I make my coffee in a coffee press I love that feature!
   It’s also a different muted color. Not the same shiny stainless steel which I also love. It heats up very quickly,

   We got this for Christmas, and it has become our favorite breakfast routine, we use it for hot drinks, instant oatmeal, easy mac, top ramen etc….

   Pros:
   quick and easy
   looks nice
   takes up minimal counter space
   easy to push and quick buttons for temperature setting
   easy to fill

   Cons:
   difficult to see how much water remains due to window placement
   doesn’t have an easy off, so keeps water warmed longer than needed

   Great product. Never knew I needed it until….

   It heats water quickly to any one of six temperatures. It keeps the water hot as long as you want. The pot itself does not get hot, so you can rest it on any surface when the water inside is piping. Easy to use.

   This heats tea water so fast compared to on the stove. I feel I am saving a lot of electricity and time, especially as I drink tea a lot. I really like the settings that allow me to brew water for green tea and black as well as mate. Great!
