   Third day with this machine and it’s great. I like being able to take the water reservoir off and rinse it — as opposed to machines where it cannot be removed and thus may be growing all kinds of things unless you’re diligent enough to do the vinegar rinse periodically. Perfect for one person — it brews about 2 medium sized mugs. And the coffee comes out HOT. It replaces a 10-cup machine that I never used to the max and that has who knows what swimming in the reservoir. Nothin negative to say, just a great compact machine for 1 or 2 people.

   This is a review to dismiss the bad reviews. This is better than the last version of this coffee maker. The previous issues are fixed and I still enjoyed that coffee maker until the spring didn’t work anymore and that’s from years of use. I ignored the previous reviews about how there were spills and leaks…SNAP IT CLOSED! That’s the fix. Add the coffee and close it flush top to bottom. Add the water, place the Cover on it. When you go to get your coffee, make sure the top is snapped on the pot. That’s how you pour it without it spilling everywhere. The trickiest thing about this coffee maker was the filter. You have to be careful you don’t puncture it and it’s actually simple to open but not so easy to see it first so just read the manual. Follow the instructions. It does what it says it will do. I soaked the filter for 15 to 20 minutes. I made sure I thoroughly cleaned everything out and I use filtered water to begin with so my coffee tastes great! It stays hot like it’s supposed to. Thats even hotter and longer than the last one. I like the way it snaps close at the top with the coffee that way it just shows me security if it happens to fall over or something like that. Those are the spills that matter to me. And I no longer have those problems as I used to. The snap closure helps control my clumsiness by snapping it all closed.

   I bought this 5 cup coffee maker for my camper van. The small footprint fits nicely on my countertop and that’s important. It’s easy to fill, the reservoir is removable. It’s simple to use. It has an on/off switch and that’s it, no bells or whistles. It turns itself off so I don’t have to worry about forgetting to unplug it. I don’t like to carry glass on the camper so I especially appreciate the stainless steel carafe. But the best part is that this makes very good coffee. The temperature is perfect and I think that’s why the coffee is so delicious. Five cups might not work for a couple but I’m a solo traveler so it is just the right amount for me. The only down side is that the carafe spills a bit when I’m pouring into my cup. I have to have a dishcloth handy to wipe up the counter.

   I like that it is easy to use. Great for one or two people. The metal carafe is attractive and break proof. The
   plastic filter works well with medium or coarse grind. The only drawback is that the coffee does not stay hot enough.

   After breaking three glass pots on my last coffee maker I gave up and tried this Cuisinart unit with its metal pot. Since I am the only coffee drinker left at home I was able to downsize to the 5-cup unit. It makes a nice hot cup of coffee and keeps it hot in the thermal pot. The unit appears well-made and its reliability should be good. It can be a bit messy though. The top of the pot has a plastic lip which makes for a messy pour no matter how careful you are and leaves a bit of coffee always in the pot. I’ve taken to pouring it out over my sink. Also, when you open the top lid of the unit and pull out the filter basket there is always a good amount of water than will inevitably wind up needed to be mopped up off the burner plate. I didn’t have this problem with my old coffee maker. So, this is a nice coffee maker but costs a lot more than standard 5-cup units and has a few design quirks.

   A purchased this for a neighbor of mine who is blind. He needed something simple, less buttons, no programs just fill with water and click one button. He liked it. He did ask does he have to use a paper filter, I told him no it can do without one but he needs to rinse out the one that’s there every day.

   I wish they made reasonably priced and easily maintained appliances for the blind. But this worked for him.

   We used the Cuisinart 4 cup model for years (and loved it. However, we now need at least 5 full cups of coffee per pot so it was time for a change. This model, DCC-5570, replaces the discontinued 4 cup model with a few enhancements. For example, this machine has a clear removable water reservoir that is easy to fill and clean, an optional easy to use charcoal water filter for removing chemicals and odors from tap water, an easy to see and use blue on/off switch that flashes while coffee is brewing and stops when your coffee is ready, a removable, efficient, nylon commercial style coffee filter, and an easy to clean stainless steel carafe. We installed the provided charcoal water filter and immediately noticed the coffee tasted better. At first I thought using a filter would be inconvenient. However, you only have to change it every 60 days or so. That’s not too bad and the filters are not expensive, worth the price for a better tasting coffee. Finally, one reason we stick with Cuisinart is because their hot plates have a thick coating of paint on them. They don’t tend to rust over time like many machines by competitors. Also, I have broken glass carafes in the past and that doesn’t happen with a stainless steel pot. Finally, I attached a photo of the 4 cup model vs. the 5 cup model for size comparison. Not much difference, neither take up much counter space. Bottom line, while no coffee pot is perfect, this one comes close. Therefore, it warrants a five star rating from this reviewer. Update and small warning…..We have been using this coffee maker for a few weeks now. Unfortunately, we DO NOT get 5 full cups of coffee from it. Should have realized. Here’s why. Our coffee cups hold 8 ozs of coffee. I guess coffee pot manufacturers consider “smaller” cups when identifying how many cups a machine will brew. Using an 8 oz cup, we are getting about 3/12 cups of coffee. Since we need at least 4 full cups to ge satisfied, we have found ourselves brewing a second pot. Defeats the purpose for buying this machine. Still love it, but am now considering simply buying a 10-12 cup pot and leave it at that.

    We used this compact coffee pot while traveling across the country full time and it took a beating and just kept giving! Think 3 heavy coffee drinkers and no secure spot for the coffee maker, it was everywhere all the time but always plugged in and brewed. We just upgraded to a bigger machine now that we are stationary and donated this for its next adventures. I like the stainless pot for obvious reasons and even though it was small for the amount of use it went through, it did the job and we always had hot fresh coffee even if it took two pots at a time sometimes lol

    I’ve mostly ever used Keurig coffee makers, but I find they are not worth what I pay for them. I switched to a simple Mr. Coffee unit and it tasted horrible, no matter how often I rinsed it, ran vinegar through it, multiple cups of coffee.. there was always just a plastic-y strange taste. Found this little Cuisinart guy and I love it. It’s just simple, easy to clean, easy to prepare. A bit pricey, but I expect great things from this brand. My first cup this morning was delicious and I hope it lasts. The pot isn’t thermal but I love the steel because it will get banged around in the sink while doing dishes, I’m sure. I’ve never had issues with this brand so far! (I do want to add that the water filter insert seems completely pointless as there is a gap between the filter and where the water goes into the machine, so unfiltered water would go in?)

    I’ll start with the good: This unit makes a stronger, richer cup of coffee than my old Capresso 5-cup machine, probably because it showers the grounds more slowly and thereby extract more flavor. It’s also super-simple to operate: the only control is an on-off button, and I find that perfectly adequate. The pot pours well, without dripping.
    However, I’m disappointed with the quality of the engineering and build, which seems below the usual high standards for Cuisinart. The plastic lid on the metal pot fits so tightly it must be pried open with some effort, and the hinge came apart the first time I opened it. (I’m not returning it since the only time it needs to be opened is for washing.) Likewise, the top of the filter basket is hard to open and close. I expected the water reservoir feature to be an advantage because it eliminates the mess of pouring water into the bowels of the machine, but it is tricky to juggle into place; the first time I used it, it tipped over and spilled water all over the counter. It also adds to the footprint of the machine, an important point if your counter space is limited. The plastic parts seem so flimsy that I don’t expect this coffee maker to be very durable. A pity, since it is rare to find a small pot that actually makes good, strong coffee.
