   I have several cutting boards but none of them have a groove in them to collect the juice of whatever I’m cutting, be it a pineapple or a standing rib roast. I’ve been putting trays underneath, and that’s not exactly safe for cutting. If the tray slides so does the rest of it! I’ve been wanting a new one for this reason, a good sturdy wood one with a groove to collect juice for less mess. It’s bamboo, which is strong and a renewable resource much more sustainable than regular wood. This Cuisinart cutting board not only exceeds expectations, the slide out tray INSIDE makes it more awesome than I could have imagined. Seriously. When I first saw the tray I didn’t think much of the handiness of it, thinking it was just an add-on to set it apart from other cutting boards, because there’s a lot out there… Until I used it. Holy cow, is it really a neat feature to have. You can scrape the scraps on to the tray with one quick swipe of the knife and dispose of them in the trash or composter, then use it to collect your prepped food ready for the pan or prep bowl. It’s a time saver! It’s a good trusted name brand that many knockoff brands aspire to copy, it’s a value and good price for no-name brand so for Cusinart, you can’t miss. While I’m gushing how much I love this thing for being such a time saver and keeping my countertops from getting covered in pineapple juice, there is one feature I wish it had. I get why it doesn’t because it’s clean and simple, less places for muck to get stuck. I totally get it. All the surfaces are visible and easy to clean, but I wish the board had some sort of stopper or nub on one end underneath where the tray slides to keep it in place better when putting it away. It freely slides out of each side, which is good for either left or right handed people to use on the countertop, but carrying it I’m afraid the tray will slide out and get bent on the tile floor. But that’s probably just me.

   The bamboo wood seems to be great quality and we love the pullout tray. We’ve used it to slide waste out of the way as we’re working or also in other instances as a serving tray. Love that it has the groove to catch juices. We’ve used it regularly for a couple months and no issues so far!

   I’ve always liked my Cuisinart products so I gave this a try and it does not disappoint! The board is a good size and feels like a good quality cutting board. The hidden tray does slide easily and can be a little bit of an awkward nuisance at times, but certainly not a problem while you’re using the board. It’s a nice bonus to have and will come in quite handy when cutting veggies for the grill. Due to the space provided for the tray you can feel that the board is thin (hollow) as you cut, but this does not cause any issues, though. You’re probably not likely to use the tray every time, but it’s definitely nice to have for those times you need it!
