   A little smaller than the toaster oven which it replaced, but still will take a store-bought frozen pizza. Have used it to cook and reheat. Temperature is accurate. Fully meets my requirements. The removable parts are easy to clean.

   I like this oven, but it’s got a couple minor design flaws. It’s still worth 4 stars and I’d buy it again, but I wanted to share the necessary workarounds. The primary reason I selected this unit is there is a separate on/off button to eliminate toasting variability. My search for new oven revealed that nearly all toaster oven manufacturers forego the button and use a single knob to turn on the oven AND set its timer. Consistent toasting becomes the job of the user turning the knob to exact same spot each time. No thanks. Cuisinart solved that so you can set the darkness level once and leave it. You just turn it on, but… Design Flaw #1 – Because it takes 30 seconds for elements to turn red, the 1st ‘toast’ is barely warm when timer turns off. To solve that problem, I now preheat the toaster before adding bread. This way, I am toasting the entire time it’s in oven and get consistent browning for several batches when feeding a crowd. See – minor. Next, the rack is manufactured to open with the door and to center bread vertically between heating elements. All good, but… Design Flaw # 2 – If you try to slide toast off the rack onto your plate, there’s a ‘curb’ blocking its exit. You have to lift it. This is problematic particularly if toaster sits overhead, say, on top of refrigerator. To solve this problem, I flipped over the rack – see photo – now ends of rack wires are above the horizontal wire so I no longer have a ‘curb’. Granted, this move toast off center and eliminates the door’s connection with rack, but at least I get hot product onto my plate without burning my fingers.

   This replaces a very old toaster oven with plastic feet that eventually cracked and broke off. Although the footprint is similar this interior is bigger so I get in a 8″X11″ baking dish which would never fit in the old one. My only complaint is that it has no auto shutoff in the bake function, which was useful in the old one…the only auto shutoff is for the toaster function.

   Have had a few of these and this updated one is the best yet. Nice look, larger oven, easy dials. Even a little claw to pull the tray out automatically so you don’t burn your hands. I chose the cheaper option for one that had a cosmetic inspection issue and it looks perfect to me. Don’t see any defects and about $40 less – go for it!

   I purchased this item partially out of need and somewhat in accord to the reviews. I’ve read by a few that “this toaster oven burns your toast” or to that effect. I agree that it cooks hotter than most and can easily burn your toasted items. BUT, luckily for us this toaster ovens comes fully equipped with a “Toast Shade” (not the greatest label name) dial. This dial allows one to adjust the toaster according to one’s desired toasting level. Thus alleviating (after some trial and error) the chance of burning one’s toast. It works great! More about the dials. I absolutely like this toaster oven. I’ve been using the same Cuisinart T.O. for about 15 years. And it made “perfect toast” like the advert promised. It finally died and I went on the search for another T.O. It didn’t surprise me that after considering many brands that I felt compelled once again to purchase another Cuisinart. The only problem I have with it are the dials. The lettering is tooooo small. I have to grab my reading glasses in order to read the settings. The other thing about the “Toast Shade” dial. The Light setting the low setting as expected. The Medium setting is the High setting. I haven’t as of yet explored what the ramifications of using the High setting would be. So medium is somewhere between Low and Medium. That usually works for me ninety percent of the time. One other weird (no biggie) thing about the TS dial is that you turn the dial counter clockwise to lighten the shade, rather than clockwise. Maybe that makes sense to you, but for 15 years it’s been the opposite. In sum. If you have good vision (or a good pair of reading glasses – or a magnifier), and you can stay out of the Medium to High range when making your morning toast, then I think that you will love the Cuisinart Toaster Oven (or Broiler as some advertise). It’s just the right size for your countertop – mine at least (see photo – the pan leaning beside it comes with the unit and slides in the guides, making the size of the pan as large as the interior, and not sitting on top of the rack).

   We bought this to replace an Emiril 6-slice toaster oven/air fryer that finally bit the dust. We absolutely HATED that one’s digital control panel btw – it aggravated us every time we used it – would turn on by itself if you barely touched it with anything on the counter, etc.. This new Cuisinart is exactly what we wish we would have had all along. It is by far the best toaster we have ever owned. Makes it faster than any other too, bc it has plenty of power (we needed to turn the toast dial between light and medium to get perfect toast, but not a problem). The bagel setting does very nicely too. We wanted to go back to a unit that had what we needed and none of the useless, non-functioning add-on junk that we did not want, or would never use. If you want simplicity and ease of operation, this is just that. We are happy. Love our Cuisinart tank dispenser coffee maker too. We trust this brand completely in our home.

   I am so disappointed in this toaster oven. And I am 10 days past the cuisinartoutlets.com return so I’m trapped. The only option Cuisinart will offer me is cut the cord on it. Throw it away and then they’ll ship me another one. Ie. Another one that’s just as defective because it’s made exactly the same way: read the negative reviews and believe them because they are true. I have gone through two loaves of bread sure that it must be me doing it wrong, but I simply have not been able to get a single piece of toast that is toasted in the center, and not burned on the edges. Today I spoke to a truly lovely woman in Romania at Cuisinart Assistance, and we toasted a slice of bread together and got the exact same result. I put it on the lower rack as she suggested and there your eyes can tell you it’s a fire hazard. It’s just too close to the heating element and if crumb drops onto it, you know what will happen. And if you don’t just look at the other videos and reviews posted here of the fire hazard. It’s so frustrating, this new world of being a consumer when everything is garbage. I spent probably three hours researching toasters and toaster ovens online and of course they all have 7% negative reviews, but I thought “but Cuisinart is a legacy brand”, so I gambled on it and didn’t really think through that I had to watch it and the return window super carefully so I’m stuck. I don’t trust it to bake and not catch fire. So I guess I will take my $99 plus shipping investment to Goodwill all nicely boxed up and go get the cheapest toaster I can find at Fred Meyer and see if that does any better. -5 stars for cuisinartoutlets.com, and for Cuisinart

    For the most part…just the looks alone are nice and clean. It doesn’t look like a spaceship on the counter. Nice simple straight lines and simple on / off / bake / broil / etc controllers. There were later design ovens from this manufacturer, but for the price, and all the Basic Features, I figured how can I go wrong? With 1800 watts for the total heating elements…right there that tells you that it is going to heat up fast…maintain quickly to attain the setpoint, and perform like a regular electric range / oven / broiler; but just in a smaller package. Toast making is complete on both sides. Fast! And with no drying out of the toast bread. I was looking for the ability to toast bread, without the bread sitting there in the oven just drying out on the inside of the bread; while the outside was browning. That is the problem with toasters that are Lower Wattage. It is a proven fact in the testing sequence of a toaster designed to do just that….make toast. The setpoint maintains just that, with not much droop in temperature. It is quick to respond to maintain the setpoint (temperature selected) to do a fast cooking chore. The crumb catch tray just slides out easily for cleaning which is a plus. My old toaster oven had to be turned on its side to flip open the crumb tray. Wow! Those crumbs really sat in there till they cooked themselves to the tray. With the slide out easy clean tray…I clean the crumbs every two or three times I use the oven / toaster! Smart Design! The only downside …and it does not affect the useability of the oven; but it is annoying trying to see the settings plainly stamped in black lettering and numbering; but very very small. Just one step UP in the font SIZE would be a big improvement. I lost my 20 year old perfect vision some 40 or so years ago, and even with corrective lenses…I have to keep a little magnifying readers glass there just to see the settings of the controls. My 18 Y/O granddaughter who has perfect 20 /20 vision even has difficulty seeing the setpoints. All In All….I recommend it highly. The functions and power of this little machine are absolutely great. It is definetely not in the toy division like some other products of the like are in. I had to give this 4 stars**** only because of the inability to clearly see the setpoints on the controls that are printed so small. That’s My Opinion Anyway! Oooops! one more important item, is the fact that there are multiple slots to position the shelves / rack etc for the different applications of cooking / heating / toasting etc.”NICE”

    We purchased this oven to replace our broken pop up toaster. It’s a very straight forward, easy to operate machine. If you are looking for something with all kinds of bells and whistles you may want to look at other options. It does a great job of toasting bread, which is what we were looking for, but it’s so handy for warming up leftovers or even cooking. With just the two of us we often do not use our range oven, we just cook our meat in the toaster oven on bake or broil. This machine runs about the cost of a decent pop up toaster and does so much more, I would never go back.

    Overall sturdy and functions adequately. We use this toaster over daily for toast, heating up chicken nuggets/fish sticks for the kiddos, and reheating leftovers. I occasionally use it to roast or broil vegetables, but since there are 5 in my family, it is usually only when I have a smaller portion of vegetables and don’t want to heat up the oven. We have had this for over a year and so far no problems. I have seen others post about problems with the heating coils, but so far so good here. Pros – Heats up fast – Does what it says, I like products that do a few things but do them well. In my experience, products with lots of bells and whistles break easier. – Toasts evenly – Multiple shelf positions – Crumb tray slides out easily and cleans easily – It looks good on the counter, it does not take up too much space, and things can be set on top of it if needed. – It is a good price for a reliable product Cons – The food tray does not remove easily and when hot can be a burn hazard for fingers (or maybe just my fat fingers – The food tray does not clean easily. We have to keep it covered with aluminum foil that we change regularly. – No timer, not really a problem, we use the one on the microwave

    When the wire rack is in the upper position for toasting, one of the “features” of this unit is that the rack is pulled out about 1.5″ by a hook attached to the door. This is the first annoyance. The rack does not slide well in this upper position. The leverage action by this door hook raises the rack slightly, causing friction along the inner walls of the toaster, so the entire toaster tends to move every time the door is opened due to this friction. The toaster itself works fine. I just don’t think it’s making my life easier to have the rack automatically protrude 1.5″ when opening the door. As seen here, I bent the hook to prevent it from engaging the rack. It’s much better that way. Second annoyance and design flaw is that the wire rack has the wires welded to the wrong side of the frame. Toast does not slip off easily because the wires are welded to the bottom of the frame in the toasting position. The toast gets caught on the frame when trying to quickly slide it out of the hot toaster. Perhaps the engineers should have realized that this toaster is most likely going to be used to make toast and designed it accordingly! Bad engineering, Cuisinart!!!
