   This is much more aesthetic than other coffee machines. It is very detachable. The water reservoir comes out, as does the piece the carafe fits into. I’ll give it credit for that, because for other machines I might neglect to clean those places.

   Lid is NOT hinged to lift when you pour so every time I pour, some spills out on counter!! controls blink forever but don’t let you know if it is on or off until you can actually hear a drip!! really confusing to use and you have to go online to get complete instructions!! thank goodness I kept inexpensive Black and Decker 5 cup coffee maker!!

   The Cuisinart SOHO 5-Cup Coffee Maker brews better-tasting coffee because of built-in water filtration. Its take-apart design is similar to coffee makers in hotels, and allows you to deconstruct the water tank and filter basket to clean them thoroughly. The heating cycle and flow are brisk, and the brewed coffee tastes noticeably less bitter because of the water filtration. Scan the QR code on the instruction pamphlet to read the full user guide, which tells you to run a cycle with water and flush the charcoal filter packet separately before brewing coffee the first time, and to change the charcoal packet every 60 days. A fatal flaw in the design is lack of an off switch. When you plug in the device, the indicator light flashes rapidly. When you press the brew/cancel button, the brewing cycle starts and the light stays on continuously. After brewing, the coffee maker enters Keep Warm mode (indicator light flashes again) and automatically shuts off after 30 minutes. The user guide claims that pressing the brew/cancel button will shut off the Keep Warm mode and heating plate, but that doesn’t work on my device. The only way to shut off the Keep Warm mode is to unplug my device. After my morning coffee, I use my coffee maker to heat up one mug of water for herbal tea every few hours while working from home. With the Cuisinart coffee maker, I either have to waste electricity with unnecessary Keep Warm modes or cause needless wear and tear of the electrical outlet by plugging/unplugging several times a day for years. Hard to believe Cuisinart disregarded the importance of an on/off switch. They misjudged the customer base for 5-cup coffee makers – single people who want to brew 1 or 2 cups at a time without harming the environment, not families or office groups who keep a full pot of coffee on the burner for extended periods. I’m giving the device 4 stars because of better tasting coffee, but when it wears out, I’ll return to a brand that turns off on command instead wasting electricity.

   Was surprised by how good this relatively inexpensive coffeemaker is compared to my previous more “expensive” brewers. Fast, good flavor and easy to use and clean. Good price/quality ratio. I am quite satisfied.

   I had the coffee maker since August. After four month of using it 4-5 times a week it no longer works. warranty lasts 2 months. it’s obviously made very poorly. I do not recommend purchasing this product, as mine is now in the garbage!

   This Cuisinart coffee maker does a great job at making small batches of drip coffee. Small meaning 1-4 mugs/cups of coffee. I also liked the LED that illuminates when your brew if fully heated up. No lukewarm coffee. What I didn’t like about this maker is how many loose parts there are to assemble and keep track of. Our old drip coffee machine had just 3 parts…..The carafe, the carafe lid, and the filter basket. This Cuisinart machine has about 10 pieces to the puzzle. Some are options like the screen vs. filter option. And a charcoal water filter (purchased separately). But even the filter basket is 3 parts and the water reservoir is another 3 parts that have to be assembled. So it adds to the cleaning of the machine after use. The coffee was good but the cleaning and storage not so much. I give this machine a “C+” grade.

   Overall not a bad coffee maker, especially for the price. The two annoyances are 1) the spout on the carafe is not quite right and you will spill water or coffee unless you pour very slowly. 2) the unit automatically turns off after 30 minutes. That’s fine but if you use all of the coffee before then there is no way to get it to turn off. Once you press the start button it is going to brew and stay on for 30 mins unless you unplug it. Kinda weird

    I was excited during unboxing and setup. I had to run about 6 pots of water thru before the water ran clear. I used the reusable filter and it became coated with a film that was difficult to remove. assuming it is residue from plastic molding or some manufacturing process. What I liked: the brew has great flavor, was reasonable quick ~5min for full pot. appearance. easy to fill water reservoir. Dislikes: there is a holder for the brewing basket that slides in, does nothing but hold brewing basket, provides no value to the system and brew basket is flush with top so 3 of five times I used it the filter paper folded over and grounds were in the brew, poor design. on/off button is impossible to decipher what the lights blinking mean or how to turn off/on etc, instructions included on box or online are useless to help. When pouring coffee from carafe, it spills down the side, the top or spout aren’t correct. if I remove the top it is better but only improves by half. for the money and based on maker I expected much better and am returning it to purchase a MR Coffee that is less $$ and will work better.

    Compared to the simpler/basic coffee makers I’m used to, this has a lot of great features and makes me feel they spent a lot of time brainstorming how to make this a convenient coffee maker to use (at least for a still purely manual coffee maker). The reservoir has one of those angled plates with the measurements so that you can read the water level from the top instead of trying to look at a gauge on the side. Both the reservoir and this angled plate are removable to make cleaning the reservoir easier. I’m sure you’ll still need to run a cleaning/descaling solution through the machine every once in a while, but this at least makes it so you can easily clean the reservoir as often as you do the carafe and filter basket. While I have filtered water on tap, there is a filter holder on the outlet of the reservoir for a small activated carbon filter (one is included along with a small set of paper filters packed into the filter basket out of the box). Note that activated carbon will help remove impurities that make water taste off, but will not remove the minerals that cause scale buildup. Finally there’s a coffee measuring scoop built into the lid of the reservoir that’s sized for one scoop per cup of hot coffee. They even made it so that the scoop attaches in either orientation into its slot so you’re not messing with that before you’ve had your coffee. Along with the reusable nylon coffee filter, you really don’t need anything to keep brewing coffee with this machine other than the ground coffee itself (and water… um, and electricity). You get about 30 inches of power cord (measured from the beginning of the plug to where it goes into the machine), which should be plenty for most counters. And it’s got space in the body to stuff the whole cord into it up to the plug. In the end it’s still just a drip coffee maker, but a convenient to use drip coffee maker. For some reason cuisinartoutlets.com asked me to rate this thing’s “blending power” as one of its features. Unfortunately I’m going to have to give it one star for blending. I’m sure Cuisinart would discourage you from trying to use any part of this machine as a blender.

    I will start off by saying that our family is not very well practiced with coffee. We just started drinking coffee in the last year and finally decided to move up from our tiny coffee pot that we used for guests. However, this Cuisinart coffee maker is definitely a nice step up, and we’ve been very happy with it so far. It is easy to fill up with water, and as simple as pressing a button to get it started. We noticed that it also brews the coffee stronger than our old mini coffee pot. We probably need to use half the amount of ground coffee that we used to before. The only quirks we have with it is that it leaves a lot of water residue on top of the plate area where you put the coffee in. It also leaves a lot of water steam in the top clear water reservoir, so you have to make sure to open it up to let the water dry when you’re done. Overall though, we’re very happy with the coffee pot, and being the Cuisinart brand I expect it to last us a very long time.
