   I use this mostly to blend liquids (shakes, batter for pancakes etc.). For that it’s great, and the price I paid is a lot less than I would have expected for Cuisinart ($79). I like the plastic jar, rather than the glass one on a lot of other machines. Of course, some people will find this a turn-off. Actually, the whole unit is made of plastic, but looks like stainless steel from a distance. It’s quite powerful (and noisy) and presumably would do a good job blending fruits etc. Be careful cleaning it, though. The first time I did this, I cut a finger on the blades. I bought a brush for cleaning babies’ bottles, and that worked well.

   I love the cuisinart product. This is a very nice blender. I been using it for five years now and the quality is very good. It is expensive but it can last more than five years which will worth buying it. Function very smooth and not too noisy.

   Ordered the white version but got the stainless steel color (it’s plastic). Not returning for correct color since we really need a blender today. One would expect better since I paid full price for the blender. Blender itself is powerful for smoothies, and it is a replacement for the same model whose blade assembly broke. Had repaired that assembly once already, but decided to buy a new one since it was already 3 years old. Still, the old model (SPB-650) outlasted the cheap Ninja we had that broke its suction foot after just a few uses and never could really make the smoothie smooth 🙂 Would give this new version (SPB-650P1) blender a 4 but have to take a point off for getting the wrong color.

   I did literally return 5 other blenders and never thought I would find the perfect one, but this is it! Perfect counter size. Effortless to clean after unscrewing the bottom and wash in the sink or dishwasher. I make a smoothie every day and that is what I bought it for. I use the smoothie size fruit packets from Costco that are frozen and it grinds them up quickly. I feel like this is a true work horse! I’ve bought my last blender!

   In reviewing the new Cuisinart blender (new to me, by the time you read this review, it may have been available for a while) I tested it by making smoothies, using frozen fruit, ice and other blend ingredients for healthful benefits and for flavor. Short review, it worked very well, does what it says it will and looks great in my kitchen. I’m happy to say the blender performed like a champ, blending everything smoothly and making the smoothies my family drinks every day. It chopped its way through ice and frozen fruit like it wasn’t even there. There’s plenty of power (1 horsepower…can you image how peeved the horse would be making smoothies?) and the blender has preprogrammed buttons for ice and smoothie, pulse and high/low mode (see the pictures). In short, it does everything you would expect out of a blender, is attractive on the counter (no more need to hide my old ugly blender when not in use) and it is reasonably sized and weighted. The jar is 56 ounces according to the documentation, though the way the lid closes, its probably a little less than that. To that point, I can’t imagine making a smoothie in 56 ounce batches. The jar is easy to clean and dry, which is more than I can say for my previous blender. Cleaning that was a bear, I used to just stick it in the dishwasher and hope for the best. Not this one, it cleaned and dried in under 30 seconds. Other uses I anticipate with this blender: mixed cocktails! Blended ice creams and milk shakes! Soups! Sautés for sous vide cooking! Not likely to make whipped cream (referred to in the documentation) but I guess I could! It does not, however, do more than it says. It is not a food processor, nor does it pretend to be. I believe some of the other reviewers may have been a bit confused on this point. I understand that some of the product documentation referred to the ability to chop but there’s no bowl and with the jar, I believe it would make a mash if you tried to chop a salad. But it is a blender and a good one and I’m very glad I have it! If you’re not sure, email me and I’ll invite you over for a veggie smoothie… Summary: If you are looking for a blender, this is very good. Solid, workable and dependable, I anticipate many years of great smoothies and other blends from it. It is not (as I have received it) a food processor; that is a different animal than what I am evaluating. But I’m happy with this as a blender and its earned its permanent place on my counter with the half dozen or so smoothies I’ve already made.

   I bought it about a year ago, but it stopped working because the black part of the blender that moves the blades looks like it melted off and can no longer hold the blades to turn. I didn’t pour hot liquids directly. It just started to deteriorate overtime. Worst product I ever bought from them.
